Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has signed a letter of intent to acquire Israeli text-analysis startup Equivio, said a person familiar with the company’s plans, as the software maker bulks up products for analyzing data. The agreement should be concluded in a matter of weeks, although other bidders may step in, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private. Pete Wootton, a spokesman at Microsoft, didn’t immediately return a call for comment. A call to Equivio’s headquarters in Rosh Ha’Ayin, Israel , after normal business hours wasn’t returned.
