This IDC study discusses market dynamics that influenced eDiscovery software revenue in 2014 and provides insight into developments that will influence demand for the 2015–2019 period.
“The eDiscovery software market is at a critical juncture. Emerging markets have not yet delivered on the promise to spur additional legal and regulatory spending, and the highly regulated markets (North America and Europe) have nearly reached points of saturation. As such, eDiscovery software manufacturers are developing additional functionality that mirrors that of traditional security or DLP products or betting on NLP to solve niche compliance and monitoring challenges. Absent the invention of a new disruptive technology or major regulatory shift, the days of the pure-play eDiscovery product may be numbered,” said Sean Pike, program director for IDC’s eDiscovery and Information Governance research program.
